As I was setting up this server to run a few blogs, I came across a few bugs, I tried to fix the myself, though my knowledge of DNS and firewalls failed me, but now I have learned the importance of RTFM first.

But I did find some really great help from getafreelacer.com, found a guy named nick from serverbuddies.com.

Nick from Serverbuddies helped set up my Virtualmin server had it done by the end of the day and runs beautifully and smooth, what he did for me was get email working, fixed a few server boo boo’s and set up the firewall so the server is safe and secure, there was great communication and great feedback from Nick.

In the last couple of months I have just been watching TV, catching up on movies and trying to keep the websites up and running due to a poor choice in hosting providers.

As per the previous post on getting  my car fixed it works great.

Had a lot of down time on the servers over the last couple of month due to an unreliable hosting provider, they told me I had to restart the server software my self on a managed VPS server, which was going down each and every day while I was at work or asleep, all they did was restart the containers as I started doing, though I asked them if this could be fixed I just got it’s up to you to keep your VPS server running, so I had enough and changed hosting companies, went back to reseller hosting for the moment until I can do some more research on reliable web Hosts.

Though I think a lot of the problems were from upgrading from a reseller account to the VPS as some settings were not changed in the process and this caused a lot of problems, the support was just useless the 30 tickets I place were answered, what do you want me to do about?, which really is not good for there business if that,s how they treat there customers. ( The company I was using was Netlogistics. ), Spending most of my time worriing whether the website was up or down stopped me from doing much at all to my websites.

Then the transfer of the websites to a couple of others finding the lack of support even worse was just astounding, a little tip: contact there support before you sign up to anything just to see if they answer and there response to your questions can tell you the quality your paying, I eventually chose a company I used a while ago for a small experiment fairly cheap and extremely reliable and great helpful support, Hostgator I have found to be simply easy to get along with and they have a great FAQ system setup, so less you have to contact support for and when you do, withing 20 minutes your  problem or request is done and no shrug of the shoulders no, it must be your fault, it’s plain English and fixed, not that I have had any problems with Hostgator yet but have contact support a couple of times.

Well that’s what has been taken up my time, plus work this last month or so, now I can get something done instead of restarting servers constantly.

Well I have been working really hard on 7meditations.com this month and not really doing much else really other than going for  a walk and work, and generally looking after myself in the little spare time I have had.

Still have not got my car fixed but that $900 we are all getting will get that done, should have some kids could have got it now.

Just upgraded my hosting account to VPS or virtual private server, feel confindant I can handle that now.

Had influenza for a few days that was not fun.

Have learnt a lot about spamming this week and how sneaky and lazy they are, because of the laziness its all about getting in early and destroying there soul, not that I want to but what a pointless exercise really.

Something a bit funny but I was worried a bit at the time, I was making a coffee and had just boiled the kettle, one of my cats was sitting on the window sill and she has a habit of jumping into the floating glass cabinet, the glass door was closed and she was just landed on the kettle, which had just boiled, grabbed her just before the kettle fell scalding her and I have scratches on my right side of my body, the claws went deep.
