3 weeks ago the hard drive on my laptop failed and then while Ubuntu’s disk checker was freezing it tripped the smart trip on the drive, but with a new reinstall a couple of days ago of ubuntu and all is good with the laptop back up and running but no trust, so no files will be saved there.

Then a few days ago I was sorting through my photos on my Western Digital 5000AV USB hard drive and noticed that some were scramble and totally unreadable through Vista on my desktop so I tried with Linux some came back to life but others didn’t and tried to save them only to find that when I tried to access a file it would scramble, virus? none detected, so I decided to save what I could which was about 80% of the files.

Then late last night a power surge and my PC with 2 SATA drives on it decided to make a drive disappear which was normal as my SATA cable doesn’t sit properly on the drive so I have to get a new one but until then.

I am using my gathered junk that I have made a quickky computer out which is a  2.4 Celeron with 755mb ram and guess what it runs quicker than 64 bit Vista on a AMD 64bit 3800, maybe obvious to some.

I think it maybe time to upgarde the computers, or buy a an APPLE.
