February Update 2009

February 19th, 2009 Brett Reilly Comments off

Well another month another update, have been working on promoting 7 meditations a bit adding links to directories and getting some nice feedback in return, the forum is starting to get some momentum and is looking to grow just nicely in the future as I keep up the hard work.

Had lots of Computer trouble over the past couple of months mostly due the seasonal extreme hot weather and just trying to get the emails and promotions going, found out that most of the fans in my main computer were not actually working and caused a few hardware and software failures, see previous posts for more details.

Decided to build another computer out of spare parts I had lying around the house and I am typing on it now using Ubuntu.

Started a diet 3 weeks ago using lite ‘n Easy as my main meals exercising everyday and replacing junk food with fruit, which so far is working out really well started at 112KG the heaviest I have been in 15 years and I am already at 106.6KG, planning on getting down to 90KG by the start of April which would be 7 weeks away, which is about 16KG, which is about 2.25 per week, so everyday I will be going for a walk and eating healthy.

Tweet Deck on Ubuntu Update – Manual Install.

February 12th, 2009 Brett Reilly Comments off

If automation does not work do a manual install, try command line in a terminal.
Its…
sudo su (makes you administrator)
apt-cache search libstdc++ then apt-get install libstdc++(version number here) (search and install c++ library if not already installed)
chmod 755 (add location of file here) eg. ./desktop/AdobeAIRInstaller.bin (changes file permission)
then run file eg. ./desktop/AdobeAIRInstaller.bin

Easy as stealing a pie from the window sill.
Then just click on the air application installer find tweetdeck.air and install it.

No Luck the last 3 Weeks with hard drives!

February 12th, 2009 Brett Reilly Comments off

3 weeks ago the hard drive on my laptop failed and then while Ubuntu’s disk checker was freezing it tripped the smart trip on the drive, but with a new reinstall a couple of days ago of ubuntu and all is good with the laptop back up and running but no trust, so no files will be saved there.

Then a few days ago I was sorting through my photos on my Western Digital 5000AV USB hard drive and noticed that some were scramble and totally unreadable through Vista on my desktop so I tried with Linux some came back to life but others didn’t and tried to save them only to find that when I tried to access a file it would scramble, virus? none detected, so I decided to save what I could which was about 80% of the files.

Then late last night a power surge and my PC with 2 SATA drives on it decided to make a drive disappear which was normal as my SATA cable doesn’t sit properly on the drive so I have to get a new one but until then.

I am using my gathered junk that I have made a quickky computer out which is a  2.4 Celeron with 755mb ram and guess what it runs quicker than 64 bit Vista on a AMD 64bit 3800, maybe obvious to some.

I think it maybe time to upgarde the computers, or buy a an APPLE.

I was given a link and all is good.

Thank You.

Scorptec – What Customer Service?

February 5th, 2009 Brett Reilly Comments off

They ask for how much they have on hold on my credit card, then to follow a link to enter that amount.

Screenshot!

Where do I put it????

Where do I put it????

So I send them an email telling them this I get, you don’t exist as your not in the phone book, well I am just not online and also told them if they did a search for me they would find me here, he told me he couldn’t find either, don’t think he tried really.

Here you go, Probably get into trouble for this but hey, I am frustrated with some online businesses not putting there trust in the real customers, not even putting the effort in to look at a piece of paper in a large book.

The Email:

We have tried looking up your address in white pages online and it doesn’t come up under your name. That is why we have gone with the Token method.

The link to enter the Token is on the Account page when you first log-in it is highlighted in red text if you are having trouble finding it you can email or call us with the amount and we can enter it for you. If you are unable to get the token you can either fax or email us a utility bill and a copy of your driver’s licence. Alternatively you can pay via Bpay or Direct Deposit.

Best regards,

Scorptec Computers Pty Ltd

Note, I don’t have a fax and I don’t have a scanner, I transferred the money to my credit card so it would be simple and easy and I would have got it by the end of the week.

Well as you may have guessed I won’t be using this company ever, canceled the order.

Thanks for nothing, but guess what you lost a sale and probly many more, good luck in the economic downturn.
